Movie Review: Yes 2019
As a movie critic, I have been privileged to watch many movies that have left me spellbound and fascinated. However, “Yes” stands out as one movie that truly captured my emotions and left me pondering for days.
The plot of this movie revolves around the love story between two people from different backgrounds who find themselves in London. Joan, a sophisticated scientist from Ireland meets Ali, a Lebanese chef living in exile. Despite their cultural differences and the complexities surrounding their relationship, they find themselves drawn to each other.
The acting in this movie is phenomenal. The characters are well developed and the chemistry between Joan and Ali is palpable. The director has done an excellent job of bringing out the best in each actor while keeping them true to their respective roles.
The cinematography and production design are extraordinary. The London scenery is captured beautifully on screen while the lighting has been used effectively to highlight key moments throughout the film.
What really resonated with me was how “Yes” tackled themes such as identity, culture clash and discrimination with such elegance. It provokes deep emotions within you making you question your beliefs about different cultures while showing that love can triumph despite any barriers that may exist.
However, there were some minor issues with this movie which I found could be improved upon; some of the dialogues felt forced at times which took away from the authenticity of certain scenes.
Overall, “Yes” is an incredible cinematic work that deserves all accolades it receives. It’s a beautiful portrayal of love overcoming barriers defined by culture or ethnicity. This powerful message will surely resonate with many people around the world making it worth watching for everyone who loves romantic dramas or touching stories rooted in current events like migration but don’t mind having their emotional buttons pushed hard!
