Movie Review: Voyeur 2020
The movie Voyeur is a gripping documentary that will leave you both fascinated and disturbed. Directed by Myles Kane and Josh Koury, the film tells the story of a journalist who is granted access to a motel owner’s hidden chambers where he has been secretly spying on his guests for decades.
One of the strongest elements of this movie is its ability to keep you on edge throughout. The plot unfolds like a mystery, slowly revealing more and more about the motel owner’s obsession with voyeurism. We see footage of him watching his guests through peepholes in his chambers, meticulously documenting their every move in journals.
The acting from all parties involved was truly remarkable – especially from Gerald Foos, the motel owner at the heart of this story. His interviews are candid yet unsettling, as we see glimpses into his psyche and the motivations behind his voyeuristic tendencies.
The production design also deserves high praise – particularly in how effectively it captures both the sordidness and seediness of Foos’ hidden chambers. The score adds an additional layer of tension to an already fraught situation.
However, it’s important to note that Voyeur does have its flaws. At times it feels exploitative towards some individuals featured in the film – as if they were being used solely for shock value rather than being given equal treatment as those speaking out against Foos’ actions. Additionally, there are moments when parts feel repetitive or drawn out which may cause some viewers to drift off or lose focus.
All those points aside though – Voyeur manages to create an engrossing narrative around one man’s need for secrecy at any cost – regardless if that means violating others privacy rights . It provides valuable insight into why some people become fixated with acts such as voyeurism while also leaving room for debate over whether what happened here went too far morally or not.
Overall – this movie is definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for something thought-provoking and darkly fascinating. Just be ready to have your comfort zone challenged!
