Movie Review: Apple Seed 2019
As a movie critic, I recently had the pleasure of watching the science-fiction film “Apple Seed”. Directed by Michael Polish, this movie was an interesting and thought-provoking experience.
The plot of “Apple Seed” revolves around two characters, George and Cody. The story is set in a dystopian future where society has collapsed and only a few people remain. George is an inventor who creates Apple’s seeds which he hopes will allow humanity to start over again. Cody is a young woman who wants to escape her past and start anew with the help of these seeds.
The acting in this movie was superb. The chemistry between the two lead actors, played by Rhea Seehorn and Maika Monroe was palpable. Both gave nuanced performances that really brought out their characters’ struggles and inner turmoil.
Additionally, the production design was top-notch. The world created for this movie felt real and gritty, giving viewers a glimpse into what might happen if society were to collapse suddenly.
However, while “Apple Seed” had many strong points there were also some weaknesses. Some elements of the plot felt contrived or overly complicated at times leading to pacing issues that could have been avoided with better editing.
Despite these flaws though, I found that “Apple Seed” really resonated with me emotionally. Its portrayal of survival in extreme circumstances left me feeling deeply moved as it explored themes like hopelessness, desperation and ultimately human resilience in times of crisis.
Overall “Apple Seed” is a must-see for fans of science fiction cinema – its unique vision combined with its emotional performances make it an unforgettable experience.
