Movie Review: The World We Make 2019
The World We Make is a heartwarming coming-of-age story that explores the power of determination, family values and love. Directed by Brian Baugh, the movie follows the life journey of young Lee (Caleb Castille) who has big dreams to become a farmer and follow in his father’s footsteps. However, his plans are derailed when he falls in love with Eva (Rose Reid), a privileged girl from New York who has big ambitions to pursue a career in fashion.
As someone who is used to watching action-packed movies, I was pleasantly surprised by the captivating storytelling of The World We Make. The plot is well constructed with great pacing that allows for enough time for character development while still maintaining its focus on the central themes. The theme of family values shines bright through the film as Lee learns to balance his aspirations with his duty towards his family.
The performances from Castille and Reid are outstanding as they bring life to their characters’ personalities and emotions. They have great chemistry on screen which makes it easy for viewers to get invested in their romance. Supporting cast members including Greg Perrow as Lee’s father also did an excellent job bringing depth and authenticity to their roles.
The film’s cinematography stands out, capturing breathtaking shots of rural farmlands which serve as the backdrop for much of the story. This imagery juxtaposed with Eva’s glamorous city lifestyle really hammers down how different their worlds are.
One possible flaw I noticed was that some scenes felt rushed which left me wanting more explanation or detail on certain aspects but this could be just me being nit-picky!
In sum, The World We Make is an inspiring movie about perseverance, family bonds, self-discovery and acceptance that will leave you feeling moved by its powerful message about following your dreams while never forgetting where you came from. It resonates well with people looking for something sincere yet uplifting; it’s definitely worth checking out!
