Movie Review: The Nomads 2019
“The Nomads” is a drama-thriller directed by Brandon Eric Kamin that tells the story of a young woman named Madison (Tika Sumpter), who after losing everything in Hurricane Katrina, sets out on a journey across America to find herself. Along the way, she falls in with a group of traveling nomadic youths who take her under their wing.
The film has received mixed reviews from audiences and critics alike. While some praised its unique concept and well-executed performances by the actors, others criticized its slow pacing and lack of direction.
One positive aspect of this movie is undoubtedly Tika Sumpter’s breathtaking performance as Madison. She brings raw emotionality to her character as she struggles with loss and emotional trauma while attempting to forge new connections with those around her. The supporting cast also does an admirable job, bringing life to their respective roles with subtlety and nuance.
However, some viewers found that “The Nomads” lacks substance in terms of plot development which causes interest levels to drop considerably throughout some stretches of it’s running time which makes some parts almost insufferable for them.
In conclusion “The Nomads” while it had good performances at times fails in delivering its message due to irrelevant subplots which lead nowhere; however those who enjoy slower movies with more emphasis on character development may enjoy this one . For anyone else seeking high-octane action or gripping narrative arcs may find themselves feeling disappointed.
