The Killing of Kenneth Chamberlain 2021 Movie Review

Movie Review: The Killing of Kenneth Chamberlain 2021

As a movie critic, I found The Killing of Kenneth Chamberlain to be a deeply emotional and thought-provoking film. This true story of an elderly African-American man killed by police officers in his own home is incredibly relevant in today’s society.

The plot was well-crafted and kept me engaged from start to finish. The tension built steadily throughout the film, creating a sense of unease that never let up. I appreciated how the filmmakers took their time in developing the characters, allowing us to fully understand their motivations.

The acting was fantastic across the board, with Frank Whaley delivering a standout performance as Kenneth Chamberlain. His portrayal of a vulnerable and frightened elderly man was heart-wrenching and brought tears to my eyes.

The direction by David Midell was impressive, especially considering this is his feature debut. Midell deftly balanced the emotional weight of the story while also keeping it grounded in reality.

I also appreciated the score by Nathan Matthew David, which added another layer of emotion to an already powerful story. The cinematography effectively captured both the intimacy and claustrophobia of Chamberlain’s apartment building.

Overall, The Killing of Kenneth Chamberlain is an important film that sheds light on issues surrounding racial injustice and police brutality. My only criticism would be that at times it felt overly dramatic or heavy-handed with its messaging. However, this did not diminish my overall enjoyment or appreciation for what this film strives to accomplish.

In conclusion, I highly recommend watching The Killing of Kenneth Chamberlain – just make sure you have some tissues nearby!
