Movie Review: Run with the Hunted 2019
Run with the Hunted is a gritty and emotionally charged film that delves into the dark underbelly of society. It has a strong narrative and memorable characters that leave an impact on the viewer.
The plot revolves around Oscar (Michael Pitt), a young boy who runs away from home after witnessing his mother’s murder. He falls in with a group of misfits led by Birdie (Ron Perlman), who teach him survival skills and how to fend for himself on the streets. When Oscar grows up, he becomes embroiled in Birdie’s criminal activities, but he struggles with his own morality as he tries to leave their world behind.
The acting in Run with the Hunted is top-notch, particularly Michael Pitt’s portrayal of Oscar. He brings depth and vulnerability to his character, making us root for him even when he makes questionable decisions. Ron Perlman is also excellent as Birdie, striking just the right balance between menacing and sympathetic.
Director John Swab does an excellent job creating tension throughout the film, keeping us on edge as we watch Oscar navigate his way through dangerous situations. The score and cinematography also enhance this sense of unease, adding to the film’s overall atmosphere.
However, Run with the Hunted is not without its flaws. The editing can be choppy at times, disrupting our immersion in certain scenes. Additionally, some of the dialogue feels contrived or forced.
Overall though, Run with the Hunted succeeds in drawing us into its bleak world and leaving us emotionally invested in its characters’ fates. It’s a gripping tale that will stay with you long after it ends – highly recommended for fans of crime dramas or coming-of-age stories that don’t shy away from life’s harsh realities.
