Movie Review: Princess of the Row 2020
Princess of the Row is a heartwarming and emotional film that will tug at your heartstrings. The plot follows the story of Alicia, a young girl who has grown up on the streets with her father, played brilliantly by Edi Gathegi. After being separated from her father and placed in foster care, Alicia embarks on a mission to reunite with her dad and reclaim their life together.
The acting and characters in Princess of the Row are outstanding. Tayler Buck delivers an incredible performance as Alicia, portraying both strength and vulnerability with ease. Edi Gathegi’s portrayal of Alicia’s father is equally impressive, conveying his love for his daughter despite their difficult circumstances.
The direction by Max Carlson is superb, making excellent use of setting to create a real sense of place throughout the movie. The score by Brian Ralston adds to the emotional depth of each scene while also providing moments of levity when needed.
The cinematography captures both the beauty and grittiness of life on the streets while showcasing some breathtaking shots throughout Los Angeles. Production design brings an authenticity to every location depicted in this film.
Special effects are minimal but used effectively when required – such as in one scene involving a dog that will surely have viewers reaching for tissues! Editing is seamless throughout Princess Of The Row allowing scenes to flow effortlessly into one another.
However there were some issues I noticed with dialogues which sometimes felt unrealistic or clunky especially during moments where important monologues were taking place between characters- this can distract audience attention from what would otherwise be powerful delivery.
Overall though I was thoroughly impressed by Princess Of The Row- its characters’ struggles feel so raw yet hopeful that it left me feeling deeply connected with them through every twist-filled turn right until its satisfying ending- definitely worthy if you’re looking for something heartfelt that’ll not only entertain but also move you emotionally!
