Nighthawks 2019 Movie Review

Movie Review: Nighthawks 2019

As a movie critic, I recently watched the film Nighthawks and I must say that it left a strong impression on me. The movie revolves around a cop named Deke (Sylvester Stallone) who is tasked with capturing an international terrorist named Wulfgar (Rutger Hauer) in New York City. The plot of the film may not be entirely original, but it is executed perfectly.

What really stood out to me was the acting and characters in Nighthawks. Sylvester Stallone delivers an outstanding performance as Deke, portraying him as both tough and vulnerable at the same time. Rutger Hauer also does an excellent job playing Wulfgar – he’s menacing, calculating and seems to revel in causing chaos. Watching these two powerhouses onscreen together was truly captivating.

The direction of Nighthawks by Bruce Malmuth is also noteworthy. He creates a gritty atmosphere throughout the film that perfectly captures the seedy underbelly of New York City in the 1980s. Along with this, Alan Silvestri’s score adds great tension to every scene.

Cinematography wise, there are some great shots of New York City’s nighttime landscapes which give us a sense of place – we see everything from Times Square to grungy alleyways.

Production design is another area where Nighthawks excels – everything from costumes to set decoration feels authentic for its time period.

The special effects used in this movie were relatively simple but effective; things like pyrotechnics were utilized effectively without being overdone or taking away from other aspects of production value such as dialogue or character development.

Editing was tight throughout and kept things moving at an exciting pace while still allowing for moments where you could catch your breath- something that can be hard to achieve with action-oriented films like this one!

Finally, there was some fantastic dialog between characters; witty lines were matched by more poignant moments, and the script in general was well-crafted with believable dialogue.

Overall, I would highly recommend Nighthawks to anyone who loves a good action film with strong performances from its ensemble cast. This is a movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end – it’s definitely worth watching!
