Movie Review: Last Ferry 2019
Last Ferry is a gripping and thought-provoking movie that delves into the darker side of human nature. The story follows Joseph, a young gay lawyer who travels to Fire Island for a weekend of partying and relaxation. But when his friends suddenly disappear, he finds himself caught up in a dangerous underworld that threatens his life.
The plot is well-crafted and keeps you guessing until the very end. It’s a refreshing change from the predictable Hollywood blockbusters we’ve become accustomed to. The acting is superb, especially by Ramon O. Torres who plays Joseph with great skill and nuance.
The direction by Jaki Bradley is impressive for her debut feature film, she showed incredible understanding of how to create tension from beginning to end without losing excitement or intensity throughout.
One aspect worth highlighting is the cinematography which captures the beauty of Fire Island as well as painting it in an eerie light during some scenes, making it seem like an entirely different place than portrayed before.
Production design was also spot-on; everything looked realistic yet stylish while still feeling like it could be someone’s summer vacation spot.
The score by Joel Douek provides an ominous backdrop that perfectly complements the dark mood of the movie. It’s hauntingly beautiful throughout various scenes in Last Ferry.
Special effects were minimal but used effectively when needed, adding extra drama without being overbearing or cheesy.
Editing was superbly done with no loose ends or abrupt cuts that might leave viewers confused or unsatisfied – everything flowed together smoothly into one cohesive story line.
Dialogues were crisp & naturalistic providing ample context to what characters are experiencing at any given point in time giving audience enough scope relatability towards them
Overall Last Ferry may not be everyone’s cup of tea given its mature themes but It goes beyond just entertainment value – this movie leaves you thinking about your own life choices while also providing edge-of-your-seat thrills à la Alfred Hitchcock style!
