Movie Review: ism 2019
As a movie-goer, I was excited to watch the Indian thriller film “Ism” directed by Puri Jagannadh. The plot revolves around an investigative journalist, Javed Ibrahim (played by Nandamuri Kalyan Ram), who exposes corrupt politicians and businessmen. He becomes a target for the powerful people he has exposed and has to fight for his life.
The acting in this movie was fantastic, especially from Nandamuri Kalyan Ram. He perfectly portrayed the character of a determined journalist fighting against corruption. The supporting cast also did an excellent job.
The direction of the film was impressive as well. Puri Jagannadh keeps you engaged with every scene and maintains suspense throughout the entire movie. The cinematography and production design were top-notch, capturing the essence of Hyderabad beautifully.
The score added to the intensity of each scene, pulling you deeper into Javed’s world as he uncovers shocking truths about those in power. However, I found some scenes were too long and could have been edited better to maintain momentum.
Despite its flaws, “Ism” resonated with me on many levels as it explores themes that are relevant even today: media ethics, corruption in politics and corporate crime etc which made me question our society’s values etc.
Overall, “Ism” is a well-crafted thriller that leaves an impact on you long after leaving the theatre with powerful performances from its cast along with captivating storyline but falls short due to pacing issues which could have been managed better.
