Movie Review: I Am You 2019
I recently had the pleasure of viewing the psychological thriller “I Am You,” and I must say that it left quite an impression on me. From start to finish, this movie kept me on the edge of my seat.
The plot was both intricate and unpredictable. It followed the story of Emma, a young woman who becomes obsessed with her doppelganger after encountering her at a train station. As Emma’s obsession grows, she begins to blur the lines between reality and fantasy, ultimately leading to a shocking climax.
The acting in this film was superb. Pia Mechler gave a stunning performance as Emma, perfectly capturing both her fragility and instability. And when it came to playing dual roles as both Emma and her doppelganger, Mechler knocked it out of the park.
But what really stood out about “I Am You” was its direction. The use of lighting and camera angles added to the overall sense of unease throughout the film. The score also heightened tension in all the right places.
Production design was also impressive, especially regarding how they contrasted two completely different worlds; one normal world where people have jobs, work for rent etc., while on occasion they saw visions from another world with spiritual manners. These two ideas were well presented without any confusion or clumsiness.
The editing in “I Am You” was also noteworthy because there were moments where it felt like time had stopped completely – adding even more suspense to each scene.
Overall “I Am You” is an exquisite psychological thriller that will keep you guessing until its unexpected finale. It may not be perfect as some scenes took too long but still highly recommended for those who love twists and turns in their movies!
