High on the Hog 2019 Movie Review

Movie Review: High on the Hog 2019

High on the Hog is a thrilling and action-packed ride that delivers an engaging plot, superb acting and characters, and impressive direction that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

The movie follows Big Daddy (played by Sid Haig), an infamous drug lord who has recently been released from prison. He reunites with his son, Freddy (Adam Budron), who is running a successful catering business in California. But when Big Daddy’s former enemies come back for revenge and kidnap him, Freddy must put his culinary skills to the test to save his father.

The dynamic between Big Daddy and Freddy is one of the highlights of this film. Despite their strained relationship, they are forced to work together to navigate their dangerous situation. Sid Haig’s performance as Big Daddy perfectly captures his character’s tough exterior while also highlighting moments of vulnerability.

The score by Brian Jackson Harris complements the film perfectly, building tension during action sequences while also adding emotional depth during quieter moments.

High on the Hog also excels visually thanks to its stunning cinematography and production design. The vibrant colors of California juxtaposed with darker tones in scenes featuring violence or criminal activity creates an interesting contrast that adds depth to the story.

Although some sequences feel over-the-top or implausible at times, High on the Hog ultimately delivers a thrilling experience that stands out thanks to its unique blend of genres – part action flick, part foodie movie – that culminates in one satisfyingly delicious feast for viewers.
