Movie Review: Good Kisser 2019
Good Kisser is a thought-provoking romantic drama that delves into the complexities of modern-day relationships. The movie follows Kate and Jenna, a couple who invites a third woman, Mia, to join them in their bedroom for an adventurous night of passion.
The plot is intriguing and keeps the viewers engaged throughout the movie. The characters are well-developed and offer insights into different aspects of human nature. Kate is the confident and dominant partner, Jenna is unsure about her sexuality and needs validation from others, while Mia is exploring her own sexual desires.
The acting in this movie is impressive all around. Rachel Paulson as Kate delivers a powerful performance with her raw emotion and commanding presence. Julia Eringer as Jenna brings sensitivity and vulnerability to her character’s identity crisis, while Kari Alison Hodge shines in her role as Mia with depth and complexity.
Director Wendy Jo Carlton has done an excellent job of capturing the angst-filled moments between the three women. The score by Tsuyoshi Yamamoto complements these scenes well by creating an immersive emotional experience for viewers.
Cinematographer Yoni Goldstein’s use of tight close-ups during intimate moments intensifies the emotional impact of those scenes on audiences.
Production designer Andre Paquette creates a warm atmosphere for intimacy with warm earth tones offset by mood lighting that fits perfectly with accompanying music scores.
If there was one aspect where Good Kisser could have been better it would be editing; some transitions between scenes feel jarring or disjointed at times making it difficult to keep track of what’s happening on screen at times.
Overall, Good Kisser offers fresh new perspectives on relationships that will resonate strongly with its audience. It has meaningfully explored themes such as jealousy, desire, love triangles within polyamorous spaces which can provide helpful learning experiences for real-life situations one may find themselves in.Particularly noteworthy are its superb performances from actors Rachel Paulson, Julia Eringer, & Kari Alison Hodge. I highly recommend this movie for those wanting a thoughtful, provocative, and inspiring story that delivers on its promise of being both sensual and sincere.
