Movie Review: Giants Being Lonely 2019
Giants Being Lonely is a slow-burning coming-of-age drama that explores the lives of three high school students in rural America. The movie follows Bobby and Adam, two best friends who are baseball players on their school’s team and Sofia, Adam’s sister who faces her own challenges while trying to find her place in the world.
The film takes its time to reveal the characters’ inner thoughts and feelings, allowing us to experience their struggles and emotions. The cinematography perfectly captures the raw beauty of rural America, making it a character itself in the film.
The performances of Alex Montaldo (Bobby), Ben Irving (Adam), and Lily Gavin (Sofia) are impressive as they portray their characters with depth and authenticity. They bring a sense of realism that makes us feel like we are experiencing these mysterious moments alongside them.
Director Grear Patterson does an excellent job setting up tension throughout the film without ever feeling forced or overdone. The final scene is particularly heartbreaking yet leaves you with hope for these characters’ futures.
Giants Being Lonely may be too slow for some viewers who prefer action or fast-paced films. Still, if you’re looking for an atmospheric teen drama with strong performances and stunning visuals, this movie is worth watching.
