Movie Review: In Full Bloom 2019
As a movie buff, I was excited to watch the Japanese film “In Full Bloom.” Directed by Maegan Houang and produced by Josh Polon, the film had generated a considerable buzz for its unique approach towards mixing genres of action and drama. And let me tell you, it does not disappoint.
The plot of “In Full Bloom” revolves around a retired samurai named Kanji (played by Timothy V. Murphy), who is forced out of his peaceful life when an old enemy resurfaces after years. Kanji must come out of his retirement and face his past to protect the granddaughter of his former love interest.
One thing that really stood out in this movie was the acting performances. Timothy V. Murphy did an excellent job in portraying the character of Kanji’s tortured soul with emotional depth that resonates long after the credits roll.
The direction by Maegan Houang is also worth mentioning here as she manages to bring together various elements like martial arts fights, flashbacks, and a sentimental storyline seamlessly into a cohesive whole.
The score composed by Yuta Endo provides excellent background music that complements each scene perfectly without overpowering it.
Moreover, the cinematography was breathtakingly beautiful with stunning shots captured during fight sequences, showcasing traditional Japanese culture beautifully. The production design team did an exceptional job in recreating authentic samurai-era sets which added another layer to this already gorgeous film.
Another aspect where “In Full Bloom” excels is its special effects. The fight choreography is top-notch throughout every scene; there are no awkward or poorly executed moments whatsoever!
When watching this movie I found myself engrossed in every interaction between characters because they all felt genuine with realistic dialogues backed up with terrific editing work done by Quin Williams.
Overall, “In Full Bloom” is hands down one of those movies which will stay with you for a long time after viewing it as it has all elements required for a great film. This movie will make you laugh, cry and feel conflicted all at once. If you like action movies with an emotional twist, then I recommend “In Full Bloom” to you without hesitation!
